Any easy way to get a stamp talking over IP? NO I dont want a PC in the middle,
but another dedicated device to talk serial to the stamp and hand tcp/ip traffic
on the back side.

Check out a recent issue of "Nuts and Volts" magazine.

The October issue had at least one advertiser that offered an
Internet "applicance" - for lack of a better word. One "end" had a
connection for a RJ-45 interface to a network and the other "end" had
configurable i/o pins. I can't recall the language it used, but I
think it was a BASIC-like tokenized interpeter similar to that of a
    Stamp.

Nuts and Volts has a website, but I cannot be sure of the URL. So do
a search and you should get a start at finding where you can pick up
    a copy.

There are several "smart modem" devices for this.

    http://www.cermetek.com (iModem)

Also search for "Hello Device" - Kanda carries these, among others.

Take a look at the rabbit RCM controllers - Not much more than a stamp,
programmable in C, 4 serial ports, 22 Mhz. Pretty reasonable
    development kits.
