BS2 and OBDII

Hello,
Does anybody try to interfase a Stamp with a OBDII computer (the on
board computer of cars, for example a VW Gol, or Renault Clio). I want to read
the error codes of the car computer with the Stamp. If somedoby knows where I
can fin information about OBDII that can help my with my development, I will
appreciate that very much.
Thank you in advance,
Ezequiel

    Ezequiel,
Here are a couple links. I'm sure a search using google.com will show many
more. If you have any luck, please let us know. I would love to make an
inexpensive OBD2 scanner that would be cheaper than the ones that are out
    there! Dan

    Hello,
Somebody give this address http://obddiagnostics.com/ in a forum in
Argentina. Here it's a schematic of an interfase between OBDII and a
PIC16F84. It's the circuit, an explanation of the protocol, everything,
except the firmware of the PIC. Can we develop our own firmware with this
info? I think, yes!. So, Why don't we work on an inexpensive OBDII interfase
    with the Stamp? Sound cool.

Elm Electronics chips are not fully SAEJ1850 VPW or SAEJ1850 PWM
compliant. It states on the datasheet "Most OBD commmands to the
vehicle are one or two bytes in lenght, but some can be three or
more bytes long. As the ELM320 is considered an experimenter's
circuit, it will only accept a maximum of three command bytes.
Attempts to send more will result in a syntax error" It says the
    same thing for ELM322.

Does anyone know what would have to be changed on the following
schematic so the IC1 can be changed from a Microchip BR16F84 to a
    BS2?

    Here is information on BR16F84:

There is no such product from Microchip as a br16f84-1.09.
The link you posted refers to this chip which is a pre-programmed
Microchip 16f84-20 chip. If you were going to replace this with a Stamp,
you are going to have to write your own software. Even then because of
the speed difference of the two processors the Stamp might not work.
They offer the processor and connector for less than the cost of a Stamp
    so one could ask why (-;

    Hope this helps,

Dale, I am aware that BR16F84-1.09 contains a program that has been
written to it's flash. The 1.09 is the version of the program. I'm
interested in writing my own code to implement SAEJ1850 VPW, SAEJ1850
PWM, and ISO 9141-2 that will be free to the public. I am a
programmer, but I knowledge of EE is limited.

Great ! Many people are not aware of some of the facts that many of us
take for granted which I was pointing out. All of your hardware looks
like it could be taken from that schematic for the different interfaces
the vehicles use. Starting from scratch with the code will be the time
    consuming part.

    Good luck,

Hi, I'm trying to do simething similar with a BS2p24 and ISO 9141-2. I have
some problems with the rutine that receive 0x55 and the two keybytes. What
hardware are you using?. You can send me e-mails to my address if you want
to ask something Off the Topic. See you
