Stamp 1 Programming Problem

I've been using Stamps for awhile but this is the first time I've had
this problem: On my Stamp I, after my program loads, it fails to run.
If I unplug the programming cable it does run! I tried changing the
parallel port modes to "bidirectional", "ECP", and "EPP" but it makes
no difference with this particular computer. Any ideas out there?
