question for anyone who has used quadrovox modules

i have the 430 recorder and 306m4. i have a riptide sound card. my
problem is: i can hear my wav files being played when i
record them, however when i play them back from the 306, all i get
is distortion.
i've messed around with the windows mixer however the best i can
seem to get
is a very, very faint sound in the background with extreme noise
over that.
have you had any of these problems? what did you do to fix that?
i hooked up headphones to the "to 8 ohm speaker" jack on the 430.
would this have any affect on how i'm hearing the sound? any help
would be appreciated. thanks ahead of time.
