I've been looking for many of the chips mentioned in this list for a
couple of weeks now, to no avail. I've been to Active Components and
RP electronics. I also called Lee's Components. With the exception of
the EEProms, none of these carry the chips mentioned. When I asked
about ordering some in I discovered that you have to order in bulk
(No I do NOT want 49 of the same $6 chip!).
Failing that, are there any Canadian mail-order houses that deal in
smaller orders? I don't mind blowing $100-$200 or so on chips at a
time, just not all the *same* chip 8vO.

I don't know of any local suppliers, but I've ordered from Digikey's
Canadian website before and been very satisfied. Check out

Arrow Electronics is pretty good about dealing with hobbyist quantities, as
is Pioneer-Standard. You could also call Intek Electronics.
I'd grab the Yellow Pages and look under Electronics or Electronics
Suppliers. Vancouver has to be one of the busiest electronics locations in
Canada - I'd think there are dozens of suppliers.

Thanks much! Neither of the yellow pages I have list these. Beastly
tel split up yellow pages coverage years ago. These companies are in
Burnaby so they were listed in the north shore and surrey/fraser
valley issues. Found them in the whites though. Day off tomorrow so
I'll go-a-callin'
Now that I think about it, I'm thinking the counter person at Active
might have been mistaking "stock amounts" for packing amounts. Why
on earth would anyone choose 49 chips as a package size? The other
numbers were goofy too now that I think about it.
