I can''t get my LCD to initialize!

I run the initialization program into my Optrex LCD screen and I get
the cursor blinking in the corner, but then all of a sudden I get
all these other black squares and characters all over the place, and
then they take over the screen, I have tried everything, if anyone
has any ideas of what I can do please drop me a line!
