How much surface area do you have to pick up? If you have a large suction
area it won't take much of a pump to do it. You could even use a cheap
    battery-powered vacuum cleaner.

I am working on A project with A mobile arm and need some sort of vaccum pump to
seal the suction cup to A flat alum. surface which is approx .5 lbs .
I dont belive I need A lot of vacuum but would like to find small pump 6-12
volts no more then 1 amp draw.
If anyone knows of any place where I might find such an item I would
    appreciate hearing from you.
    THANKS
    MAX
