Solid-state relays

Nevermind! I Googled for them like I should have
before sending the last email and found lots. It
looks like many of them require a higher control
voltage than 5V, meaning I can't drive them
directly from my Javelin Stamp. But others are
listed as TTL and CMOS compatible, so I guess
those will work. Anyone have any good or bad
experiences to report with any particular part?

Mouser has a bunch of solid-state relays that will work with a 5-volt input.
    Search for the manufacturer CRYDON.

    Jameco does too.

I use Grayhill 70M-XXXX Series modules with Stamps all the time.
    Replace XXXX with:
OAC5 AC Output Module Triac 120 Volt 3 Amp
ODC5 DC Output Module Transistor 60 Volt 3 Amp
IAC5 AC Input Module 20-140 Volts
IDC5 DC Input Module 10-32 Volts

The Stamp can drive these directly. The problem is if you have too many
output modules turned on at the same time you can exceed the maximum output
capacity of the Stamp. I use buffers to drive the outputs if this is the case
    with my designs.

www.digikey.com has the Grayhill Modules and you can get to the Grayhill Site
    from there.

OPTO-22 makes the same modules with the -OAC5 etc. Types. They are a little
more pricey and you need a special board to mount them. The Grayhill ones
will solder to a PC board directly.

I use this type of SSR for switching Gas solenoids and running small AC
Induction motors. So far I have not had a failure of a Stamp I/O pin or SSR.

    Good Luck,

I have used the opto22 quad packs a couple of times to interface with
120VAC loads with their carrier board that has a 50-pin edge
connector. I drive them from the BS2 through 2803 current sink
drivers. They seem to work just fine.
