Tachometer prove-out....(it''s been a while...)

I feel bad because I've been away from the list for a while, and immediately
upon my return I am looking for some assistance. I have been away from
Stamps for quite a while altogether and have been deeply engrossed in a
couple of other major undertakings.
That's why I'm hoping someone's gray matter that's involved with Stamps may
be a bit fresher than mine.....

As part of a project to prove out a concept I want to make what is in effect
a simple tachometer with a Stamp and 2 or 3 7-segment displays. The
deterministic nature of the stamp is where I am getting hung up. Put about 8
or 10 PIC projects together in rapid succession, then go back to trying
something like this on a stamp without timers or interrupts and you'll see
why I'm having trouble getting the wheels turning - or perhaps you've been
there already.

I've tried the COUNT instruction, but then I cant seem to get the outputs
for the display segments and commons to time properly. What I saw on the
scope does not coincide with what I expected to see at all.....

Has anyone ever done this before, or know of a similar example posted
somewhwre that may help me get my thoughts straight? OK, I just remembered
the LOSA list. I can go look there on my own, but any tips will still be
appreciated...

TIA,
Chris
