Is there some way to read the actual code stored in a BS2 chip,ie. to
have it spit out the code exactly like it was programmed in? I tried
fooling around with the read command but didn't get the results I
    wanted. All help appreciated.

    The code for a BS2 is stored in a 24C168 I2C EEPROM.

There are two ways to read the code.

    1. The memory map via ctrl - M shows the code exactly as it will be in the
    EEPROM after down load.

    2. If you have a basic stamp OEM kit, you could take the EEPROM out of it's
socket, and connect it up in a breadboard, and use another stamp to read the
    EEPROM.

    cheers,

    Ben, Wellington, New Zealand.
