Problem w/ serial port and running program

Greetings...

I've been using a PC to program and use a BS2 (on a BOE), and
everything seems fine and working.

Recently, I've switched to a laptop. The serial cable downloads the
program to BS2 but, as long as the cable remains connected to the
BOE, nothing is executed. I've to physically disconnect the cable in
order to run the program.

I've tried to detect any differences between the COM settings on my
PC and laptop but have not been able to detect any. There must be
something I'm missing here.

Has someone had similar problem? Any insight, help, or comment would
be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I posed the question to Parallax and got an answer
    that works for me.

Open Debug window (under Run on the menu bar). Once
you have this, you can shrink it, then download the
program, and bingo, it should work. It works on mine.

Parallax said they encountered the same problem with
Dell laptops. Mine is a ChemBook. Their solution seems
    to be working just fine.

It still baffles me why the problem occurs!

Hope this helps you and fixes the problem. Let me
    know.

I think I had a similar issue with the code downloading but not executing,
and all I did was put a debug statement in the code (which opens a debug
    window) and all was well.

On my Toshiba/W2K system the RS232 drivers were being turned on/off at a regular

rate. This caused constant resets(from the DTR) line. I assume it is some sort
    of
power saving feature and that polling turns it back on?
