cascading 74hc165 devices

I noticed on the stampworks experiment #24 document that pin 7 of the
165 is used as the serial output of the device to the stamp. The
74hc165 data sheet details this as the complimentary serial output of
the last stage. When cascading devices, as an example in two devices,
is it the first device pin 9 (serial out) or pin 7 (complimentary
serial output) connect to pin 10 of the second/last device? Then
should I speculate that pin 7 (complimentary serial output) of the
second/last device go to the stamp?

Just trying to get it right the first time when cascading these
devices together and connecting to the stamp to read multiple inputs.

Thanks,
Guy

I generally use the complimentary output from the device connected directly
to the Stamp so that my pulled-up inputs to the '165 return "1" when active.
Since this last stage does the inversion, other stages should use the
    non-inverted serial output.
