Frequency synthesis with basic stamps ?

I need to make a machine to create TTL level signals either as a square wave
or a sine wave between 3200 HZ and 160000 HZ. Can anyone point me to a
link that might explain how to do this ?

    Hi Justin

Do you really want to use a Stamp, or is it OK with another system ?

    Phil.

There's a chip that does sine, triangle and square waves with only
    a handful of parts: ICL8038.

A better choice might be the MAXIM MAX038 waveform generator IC
from www.maxim-ic.com www.digikey.com had them for about $12.45 each.
If your a company you could get a sample from Maxim.
It seems to work from very low frequencies such as 50 hertz up to over 20mhz
    too.
The ICL8038 seems to be a obsolete discontinued device now. Myabe one of the
    surplus vendors have them.

MAXIM currently makes the MAX038 Waveform Generator IC. You can get a free
sample even if you arn't a company, just fill out the sample form on their
site: www.maxim-ic.com; go there and type MAX038 in the part # search box in
the upper-left corner. This will bring up the data page. Datasheetes (PDF)
are available for viewing/downloading. The IC is capable of Pulse wave,
Square wave, Sawtooth, and others. Frequencies range from 50hz to ~20mhz.
Keep in mind the BS2 has a processor rate of 20mhz as well so don't give it
something it can't handle (i.e: over 20mhz). Hope this helps!

MAXIM makes a Waveform Generator IC called the MAX038. It's capable of Sine,
Square, Sawtooth, and Pulse-Width waves (or more). It runs frequencies from
50hz to 20mhz. Just keep in mind the BS2 runs at 20mhz so don't give it
something it can't handle (over 20mhz). Maxim offers free samples as well.
Datasheets (PDF) are also available. Their site is www.maxim-ic.com.

    Just done it! :-)

Hard to believe they are sending me a sample at no charge, with freight at
their expense to New Zealand. :-)

I feel like a complete **** over this, I posted the question a week ago and
then forgot about it until today. The solution offered was exactly what I
was after, I can't thank you all enough.
