6x4 matrix key pad

I have a 6x4 matrix key pad connected to 6 - 15 I/O pins on a stamp2.
The first 16 keys are scanned ok but keys 17 - 24 are duplicates of
the first 8 keys.

Can anyone help??

    Can you show us the code where you multiplex them??
    Wiring diagram would be nice, also.

    I've used some thumbwheels and I'm sure the techniques
    would be indentical.
