Hi,
I'm looking into using a stamp computer (actually a bunch of them)
to solve a problem I have. Here's the situation:
I have several remotely located unmanned equipment sites (read; a
pain to get to)
I have very reliable T1 communication with these sites.
I utilize one part of the T1 link for a 256kbaud data line
I utilize another port at 4800 baud for control functions.
The equipment sometimes "hangs" requiring a power reset to recover.
The T1 and modem are almost never at fault when it hangs.

What I would like to do is use a Stamp to "sniff" the 4800 line,
looking for a specific ASCII string (say, CTRL R E S E T) which I
will send from my operating location.
If the Stamp "sees" this string it will need to change a state of an
output pin. That will cause a relay in to interrupt the power to
the "hung" equipment for 10 seconds, accomplishing the ever
popular "IBM RESET".
I've already built and tested the relay and driver circuitry.

I've darn little basic programming experience and haven't yet
purchased a Stamp starter kit. Does this sound like something easily
accomplished with a Stamp 2? Anybody out there played with similar
applications??

Thanks in advance.
Jim Wynhoff
