Can anyone suggest an infrared device for motion detection with the stamp?
I see some devices radio shack sells for about $25, but they are an entire
product. I'm interested in the actual infrared detector and how involved it
would be to use with a stamp.
Thanks in advance,
John Walton

after is a PIR sensor. I found one at:
http://www.hvwtech.com/sensors.htm
That looks like it would fit my need. I ran into a lot of them (once I
found out they were called PIR sensors) but most of them were robot-type
uses, very short distances. I would like to sense out to 30 or even 60
feet (if this is possible).
Has anyone used this particular device? Or anything like it? Anything you
can tell me about it?
Thanks in advance,
John

www.acroname.com has a good selection of these IR types.
www.acroname.com also has the Devantech and Polaroid Ultrasonic Range
finders which work typically from about 4inches to 12 feet (Deventech) and
Polaroid which work from about 12" to 30 feet.
It is very complicated but using op-amps and photodiodes you can get longer
IR ranges. One of the members of www.dprg.org has been working with
photodiodes and longer IR ranges, but I don't know how far along he is.

Well, I have kind of answered my own question (I think) the device I am
after is a PIR sensor. I found one at:

These are the SHARP sensors, there are a number of them to choose from.
