YOU called ME 'Doctor Strange' or something like that? That salt stuff
sounds like from the bottom drawer of some mad scientist... :-)
But: What really caught me about your comment was the bit about the color
sensors. I could only find some reports on those on the web but no technical
data or product description. Have you ever used them? Are they available? Do
you know their maximum distance?

I've not used these color filtered light-to-voltage chips. TAOS had
an exhibit (near Parallax) at a Sensors trade show recently with a
demo of a colorimeter. I don't know what the "maximum distance"
might be, but they claim to be 'sensitive'.
I see, doctor, now you want superpuppet to comment on the colors
people are wearing!?!
