WHITE LED''s

My two cents on this issue (please ignore if already said as I am joining
this string a bit late). I got my white LED's from Digi-Key for about $2.40
each (okay, I bought in small lots so the price is higher - d'oh!) but the
MCD output is 3000 at Vf = 3.75V with an If = 20mA and they do leave spots
in your eyes. If you up the voltage by 20%, the current almost doubles and
the light intensity really takes off! I do not know how long you can run the
LED at the high end before the junction dies of heat exhaustion. Neat stuff.

Other suppliers: www.nichia.com and www.theledlight.com

These guys have different colors available too. Red, orange, green and blue.
Groovy man.

It appears from what I have seen is that these LED's are probably made at
the same plant in Japan and are then distributed by more than one company in
North America. If different plants are manufacturing these items, I would be
willing to bet the dies for the LED's are either identical or pretty darn
close (clone) to each other. If this is wrong, please let me know.
