Wheel encoders / multi tasking.

Hi,

Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding wheel encoders.
I`m relatively new to BS2 programming and would like my program to
look at two robot wheel encoders (perhaps phase shifted) whilst
executing the rest of the program. Whats the best way to go about
this please.

Stuart

    Stuart,

Please refer to the attached .pdf file from a Nuts and Volts article. I
have used this method with much success to control frequency / volume
    controls on stamp controlled radios.

    Good luck!

    Stuart,

I see that this new group did not upload the .pdf file I mentioned. The
article can be found at www.nutsvolts.com. Column #8, October 1995 by
    Scott Edwards.

    Good luck!

All the Nuts & Volts articles about the Basic Stamp can also be purchased in
two bound volumes direct from Parallax -- a very good reference and easier
to browse than a PDF file. Got mine sitting next to the bed for late-night
reading. Lots of great ideas to be had by all.

To prevent spam and virii, the group does not allow uploading of
attachments. I believe there is a file area you can upload the files to as
well as simply posting the URL.

    Leland,

Thanks for pointing out that nuts and volts article. Just last night,
I figured out the pins of an encoder that I ripped off of an old
remote. I wanted to use the encoder for a volume control on a
project I am working on. And, I was wondering how I could use the
basic stamp to get the input from the encoder. I came up with a way,
but the article from nuts and volts shows a more efficient way. It
    will be perfect. Thanks.

And, thanks to Scott Edwards for writing the article.
