Hi group,

I'm working on a project using minariks motor speed controller, I want to
replace teh speed adjust pot with something running off my stamp. The pot is
a 1 watt 0-100k wirewound. I am aware of digital pots, but they are not a hi
enough wattage. Any ideas?

Thanks

    Hi
To dissipate 1 watt in a 100k pot would require a DC voltage across the
pot of 316 volts !!. Measure the voltage across the pot you want to
replace. I bet at the most it's a few 10's of volts, BUT make sure the
pot is controlling a DC reference type signal, some thyristor or
unijunction type controllers. The pot is part of timing circuit, and
using an "Electronic" address controlled "pot" can be a problem. So if
it's a DC reference controlled unit, with 5-30 VDC, most controlled pots
can be used, but watch reference signal ground paths, and potential
difference between the controller, and stamp.
