    Hello Al,

For a low budget solution you could try a telephone handset cord
"untangler" as a four wire slip ring.

How many connectors are you planning to have within the cable ?

High quality compact rotary connectors are available
from Mercotac, Inc., but they are not cheap! They
have mercury wetted contacts for very low noise.

I need up to 5 contacts. What is a phone cord "untangler" where
    would you get it from?

    Hi Al,

The phone cord untangler is a simple slip-ring set in a plastic
housing that goes between the handset cord and the handset as a swivel so
that when the handset is turned around, it doesn't twist the cord. They
are quite easy to find in home centers, building supply stores and of
course, Radio Shack. I bought the model that we use here in the office at
Lowe's - it's made by GE part No. TL96135. This particular model is about
    six dollars.

Radio Shack should have the phone untangler but they only have
    4 contacts within.

What is the nature of the tethered connections? Can you do any
signal reduction by way of multiplexing or polarity switching
schemes? Have you considered inductive coupling?

Don't try to send much current thru these gadgets. The
contacts will burn quickly. Use only for signal voltages.

If you hadn't used a aliased, bad email address, you
could have had an answer to this.
I tried to email you about this but it bounced.

Depending on number of conductors and the strength of connection needed why not
use the swivel connectors you use
on telephone handsets. Take the female connector out of old phones.
One thing to remember is the connector is a different size then the one to
connect the phone to the wall. Maybe
even use a 25' coiled handset cord?
