compass app kit?

I'm interested in making an application that would use two digital
compasses to compare the rotational postion of two objects in "real" time.
It seems that in the app notes for the digital compass that parallax offers
that it takes a while (3.5 seconds) for the compass to adjust to a 90
degree turn. To me this seems like a really long time. Are there faster
ways to compare rotational position and/or am I misreading the app notes?
Any help appreciated!!

your application, anyway. You may want to look into the Devantech CMPS01
(available from Acroname). The CMPSO1 is fast and has 0.1 degree resolution
(with 2 - 4 degrees accuracy).
