Many Stupid questions

Hello from Gregg C Levine
I've got a stupid question to ask. And it's probably one which has been
asked before, but not by me. Can the BASIC stamps be damaged by the mere
act of soldering near them? I left mine in its carrier board while I was
soldering in place the power supply (regulated) wires, and now I am
getting errors from the stamp program. This is a Stamp One. One of the
errors states that it can't find the device, it actually says, "ERROR
Hardware not found". But the funny thing is that it would say that, when
it was having problems with the power supply connections being loose on
the pins, for example, that was before I did that to the carrier board.
Or even when I had problems with the homebrewed programming cable. Also
is there a proper setting in the BIOS of a PC for the parallel port?
Normally I am a better worker then this, but I was actually in a hurry
this time.

    Hello from Gregg C Levine
First thing I checked. It isn't. I even dug up a standard 9 volt
battery, and attached it to the clips, and checked to see if it would
    work. Same thing happened.
