Source for valves

Can someone suggest a source for this valve?
I need a valve with the following requirements:
1. Quiet opening - require this rules out ASCO solenoids
2. On/off - no variable control needed.
3. Operate on 24 volts or, preferably, less (like 12).
4. Should have a 1/4" straight flow-through- like a butterfly or ball valve (not
required.)

Thanks,
Bill Landahl

McMaster Carr has some good ones.
www.mcmaster.com
Type in part number7877k55 in the serch column. Then look at the catalog
page.
For everyone else, if you need anything mechanical these guys probably have
it

What type of application are you using. I am in process development and we use
valves for various applications.
For me to answer your question I would need to know a few things. I only say
this because many different sources carry different valves for different
applications:
Does the valve need to be solvent capable ( what are you flowing through it?)
What is the duty cycle of the valve? ?
How much do you want to spend?
What is the expected lifetime of the project/valve?

Belimo is a good source for just about any type of actuators and or valves with
actuators.
Try this web page http://www.belimo.ch/CH/EN/Product/Range/index.shtml , they
are will have what your looking for.

Jay,
Thanks for following up..

I'm developing an application for a simple set of air muscles (only using water)
[see http://www.geocities.com/cssoh1/cpedia/airmusc.htm ] to provide a light
skin massage for lymphodema therapy. I want to alternately sequence several of
these muscles (2 or 4) mounted with rubber pads to simulate a massaging action
on arm or leg.

I'm flowing water at low pressure and low volume (~10psi, 1-2 gpm). Since this
is prototype, I want to spend next to nothing on the valves. Ideally they
should be three way valves- "ON" pressurizes the muscle, "OFF" allows the water
to drain. They can even be plastic with little flapper valves. I just don't
know where to look.

The REAL ideal would be a manifold of actuating three way valves - a bit like
you might find on the back of an aquarium- I've seen these at an aquarium
supplier, but THEY DON"T COME WITH ACTUATORS. THAT'S my problem.

Thanks for your help!
Bill

How about the valves used in washing machines? 120Vac coils, 2 Normally
Off valves on a cheap plastic manifold. You can also look at the single
valves used in dishwashers.

Since you want to keep your prototype costs to a minimum, head over to your
friendly appliance repair shop and ask if you can strip the valves out of
dead appliances. Should be for free!

following the application a little further, you could use a pressure
to push on a diaphram that pressureized the tubing to the remote
device. water or air could be used. and by being remote, you can
attenuate the noise more easily.

Bill,
Looking for cheap manifold assemblies? I have used the NUMATICS 24 volt
valve assemblies that I purchased from C&H Surplus
http://www.candhsales.com . I have also bought a lot of Skinner and Air
Logic valves from them. Cole-Parmer Instruments sells the kind of valve you
are looking for ( #01367-71) but I think they are around $60 each.
