Maze contests

We want to put on a maze contest appropriate for junior high age kids (grades
6-9) here in Santa Barbara, CA. We are thinking of two "tracks" - a lego
mindstorms and an "other" (which would includes the stamp et al). this lets
us play on the popularity of the lego mindstorm.

Any suggestions? Books? Anecdotes? Ideas? We don't know much about it
except it seems like it could be a lot of fun.
