Has anyone used the Basic Stamp to communicate with anything over RS232 ? Or
if not RS232 then what communication method has worked for you ?

Thanks,
Steve

    I have used RS232/422 between BS2/Windows and BS2/Mac.

Also, successful with BS2/Mac via USB on the BS2 board.

    Dear Steve,
I have them communicating with the LINX and MELEXIS (more stable FSK type)
transceivers and TX/RX modules with RS-232 and RS-422. Had pan tilt working
with stamp via remote control and now have GPS data remote almost finished.
The problem with the LINX transceivers is that the stamp must control the
RTX and TXD lines to make sure they are in RX or TX mode even though they
are "transceivers", they mist be put in right mode by sending HIGH or LOW to
those two lines at the appropriate time. Not a problem, but just more work
to be done. I bought the LINX eval kit for the transceivers which is high,
like $299.00 but much easier to do first run testing as all the lines are
there for you to plug & play. Look at Parallax also if you just want to
control things with the RF modules. These are neat and work well. The LINX
page also refers to the STAMP as a use
    hope this helps
    sincerely,
    Mike M
