Hi,
I have to make a comparison between a BS2sx and a 8751 microprosesor, does
anybody knows the diferences or the caracteristis of the 8751? is there any
other microcontroler that can match the BS2sx with the same price and facilities
for programing?
thanks

askes where else he can buy peas.
You will not find the same facilities for programming anywhere else.
Probably not even close.
The whole business model Parallax uses is free software, great
support and charge enough for the products to keep the business open.
Do the Stamps cost more that other micros that can do the same or
more ? certainly, but you are not paying for hardware or chips, you
are paying for features. And if you polled this list you will find
that many on here average less than $1.00 an hour for thier projects
if they got paid. Would you pay $50.00 to save a few weeks of your
time ?
Comparing micros you will find there are some that are simplier with
less features, and some so robust they use them for home computers
and even web server farms. I think they call them Intel pentium 4's
There are even some with more horsepower.
They are all micro's, just vastly different feature sets.
If you want a comparison between the chips you listed, check the
manufactures spec's on the 8751 for timing and number of pins.
You'll get it very fast.
If you are looking to do it cheaper, start using C and then almost
the whole microprocessor world is open to you.

like the PIC that belongs in the Basic Stamp line of
parts. You still need to add reset control logic,
clock, memory, rs232 drivers. Then, unless, you have
the BASIC version of the controller (8051AH ?), you
still have to purchase language tools - typically
nowadays it's C or assembly, used to be PLM!
The 8051 family is/was really designed for larger
control applications that a PIC or Basic Stamp.
Different - not better or worse - you have to consider
what you are doing with each controller to make that
judgement.
