Hi All,
Well, our reliable friend gravity agrees with the stamp! Or rather, the
stamp agrees with gravity.
I took a .68 meter clear plastic tube, put the IR gate at one end, and
dropped a projectile. Over a 10 shot test, the stamp averaged 3.7 m/sec, and
calculations said 3.6 m/sec. Good enough for me!
I pulled some optoisolators off of some old modems yesterday, so I can
proceed to use the stamp to run the coil gun. Think of how easy it will be
to gather data! And one can imagine setting up modes to fire using 1,2 or
all three stages for testing. Velocity measurments between each stage. And
so on! I ordered an LCD display so I can have it all read out slick like.
