Sned Sony IR Codes from Stamp
Archiver

Dear Stampers,
I am competing in a unoficial robot competition just for fun for a
coarse I'm doing. Our robots are controlled via IR remote control
from a universal remote programmed to Sony's 002 standard. For the
fun of it my group would like to be able to mimick the IR signals
the remote sends. That way we could transmitt Sony signals from an
IR sensor on our robot and controll the other person's robot. We
have found many resources on receiving Sony code with the BS2 but
haven't been able to find anything on sending Sony code. Please help
the deadline on this project is 06/27/02.
Thanks,
Michael

Then you'll have them for your project.
also google for the codes, they are not hard to find.

If all the other robots in the competition are being controlled by Sony IR
remotes won't there be cross-interefence anyway?
Anyway, you'd use an Infrared LED to transmit the signals. It must be
matched to the infraredlight frequency that you are using. You'll also have
to modulate the LED with a carrier frequency - probably 38Khz. You can
generate the carrier frequency using an LM555 timer IC. You could drive the
IR LED directly from the 555 for limited transmitting distance, or else use
a transistor to increase output. Then you'd modulate the 555 output to match
the specific Sony remote codes you need to send.
Here's a good source of info:
