Anyone know about Ferrettronics?

I am looking for a simple low cost servo controller to off load the
Stamp II processing time spent on keeping the drive wheels moving
along. I came across the FT-639 Servo Controller from
Ferrettronics. It seems straight forward enough, though you do need
to send two Serout commands per servo. At $20, it seems to be the
least costly solution out there. Does anyone have any experience
with it?

correctly is that once a servo has had a command sent there is no way
to turn off the servo. By this I mean it will always try to correct
itself back to the position you have it set for. Most of the time
this is what you want, but, if you are using a hacked servo as a
drive system, it's nice to turn the servo off. Setting the position
to a center position would often drift with time.
I hope this helps.
