I have been running the DOS version stamp editor and upgraded to the
1.32 Windows version. I can't get the Windows software to communicate
with the stamp. It gives me the "basic stamp not found", but I can
load the DOS version and it programs the stamp with no problem.
Any ideas??

Are you using a BS1 or BS2 stamp, if you are using a BS1 stamp the Windows
Editor will not work, because the
BS1 stamp is not supported by the Windows Editor(s). If you are using a BS2
stamp is it connected by the right
cable, and is the power applied. Check the Basic Stamp Manual ver2.0c for the
proper cable. It sound like you
are trying to use the Windows Editor to program the BS1 stamp. You need to
program the BS1 stamp with the DOS
Editor. No Windows Editor has been released for the BS1 stamp. Also the BS1
stamp uses a parallel cable, and the
BS2 uses a serial cable.
Have Fun !!

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that I was programming a BS2.
Everything is powered up properly and the
aggravating part is that the DOS editor programs it fine, using the same
computer, cable and power supplies.

I am using the Windows Editor 1.31 and have had no problems, this maybe a
bug in the Windows Editor 1.32 or you
might have an earlier version of the BS2 stamp. I do not think you have an
earlier version of the stamp, unless you
have had it for a very long time (years). There has been a lot of people using
the stamp lately who have been having
similar problems with stamps working OK, then having problems with a new
program. I have not experienced any problems
to speak of using the Windows Editor 1.31, but I did have problems with one
stamp and an earlier version and sent it
into Parallax to have them check it out and they sent me a now one after about
4-5 days testing. It may of been a
software issue, but I think it was a hardware issue. Call tech support and talk
to one of the techs and see if they
have any ideas as to what is wrong, because if it is seen in DOS it should also
be seen in WINDOWS
Another idea is does the Windows Editor see the COM port you are using, if
not this could be your problem. Goto
Edit, Preferences, Editor Operation and set Default Com Port to "Auto" and see
if this solves your problem.
Have Fun !!
