Hi... we're trying to download programming to a new BS2 robot
here at school... we've hooked up to both COM 1 and 2 and tried
to run our procedures but we keep getting an error message...

BASIC STAMP II can detect but is not responding to COM1!

or soemthing similar

we're running windows 2000 professional...we're a Mac school
and this is our only PC

worth trying on another PC or is it the way the COM ports are set
up...? everything is pretty much default... I'm just wondering if I
have to tweak something in the preferences window of the editor
or similar

We've got this flamin race on Tuesday so I'm getting a bit needy

    Hi Andrew;

It sounds like a common problem around here, and most of the time it is that
the Stamp is not getting power.
Check the voltages at pins 4, 21, 23, and 24 they should be as follows 4 and
    23-0V, 21-5V, and 24 the supply
voltage you are using, Note 24 can be 0V if it is not used to supply power for
the Basic Stamp. It may also be
your cable if the board you are using is a homebrew type board recheck all the
cable connections and see that pin
6 and 7 are common to each other.

    Have Fun !!
