Semiconductor PNs and sources

I've been looking for parts referred to me in a previous thread. I can
find the semicondutors listed under '2NXXXX' type numbers, but I can't
locate any listed under the 'BCXXX' type numbers. I've tried DigiKey,
Jameco, and Radio Shack. Does anyone know who makes these 'BCXXX' PNs
and/or know of an online source?
Thanks
Don

    Hi Don,

Sorry the BCxxx series of transistors is causing you a problem. They are
just a generic general purpose device, used widely in the UK and Europe.
It appears that they're not so widely used in the U.S.
The devices you want will generally conform to the following.
    HFE >50, VCE >20 volts DC, IC >100mA ft > 100KHZ.
Any general purpose switching transistor will do. MPSA43 seems
good (Radio Shack). Radio Shack Cat. #: 276-1617 15 NPN devices for
$2.49 good as well. Hope this helps.

    Rob
