Anybody out there familiar with the 1394 "Firewire" interface? We have a need
for this new high speed system. Any input on this format would be very helpful.

    Yup,

Apple created it. Very fast serial interface comes with all new Macs, and
is also available as a 3rd party PCI card for PC's or Macs.

    For a White Paper:
    http://www.sel.sony.com/semi/ieee1394.html

    Other sites:
http://www.nital.com/fbuild.html has some info on a Firewire
    sniffer/development system of some sort.
http://www.apple.com/ will have some info on the site somewhere.
    http://www.1394.com/ will be active soon.
Even microsoft.com and a search of their site for ieee1394 produces a number
    of links.

Now, all we need is for someone like FTDI to create a FIREWIREMOD which
would be as easy to use as their USBMOD's, then we could have FireWire
    interfacing to our Stamps.

On a side note, while I mention FTDI, I've had some success with their
USBMOD2 interfacing with a Stamp. Will write more later on that.

    Cheers,

    Ben, Wellington, New Zealand.
