AeroGPS and the Terror Factor

I saw the post on AeroGPS, and did a search on Google. I found this link:

http://www.lls.se/~mux/micro/pdf/Aero%20GPS%20Brief.pdf

Shows a ETrax GPS connected to a gas powered model airplane. Now, if I
were a terrorists, which I am not, you could have a fleet of small planes
deliver your explosives anywhere you had the final GPS coordinates to.

Scarry,

Brian G.

    Hmmn,

Nothing new then. I seem to remember a similar system was used some 60-odd
years ago by some terrorists, headed by some guy called Osama Bin Hitler.
They impressed the hell out of people living in London. In fact they made
    many deep impressions ON London.

    Regards,

    Tony

After 9-11, I actually had several people send me requests about controlling
model rockets and even a large powered model (big enough to deliver
"packages" and designed to do so) -- all were reported to the FBI.

In the end, we decided to publish the AeroGPS project because it is about
data logging, not about controlling the plane. Yes, it's possible to do
control, but not nearly as easy as you would imagine.

It is my hope that BASIC Stamp users are only interested in peaceful uses of
that project. Still, when I receive suspicious e-mail, it is immediately
    forwarded to the FBI.

    Nice setup by the way.

Can this program be used on any GPS module, that is is it standarized? Been
wanting somthing for my truck to keep track of my miles.

The program uses one Garmin-specific string, but that can data can be pulled
(but not as easily) from a "standardized" GPS string.
