Breadbording software?

Dear Stampers,

This is my problem:
I need software that would allow me to try some breadboarding on the
screen before I commit to the physical world. I do not need any
simulation features - just the graphics, so I can try many different
ways to position the chips and jumers and save it for the future
reference too.
I found a Winbreadboard package from YOERIK, but it is a simulator
and also it does not have a library of chips based on their geometry
(like 12 pin DIP, or 3 pin TOE...)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Alex.

    Hi Alex;

    I have two CD's from;
    Most Significant Bits, Inc.
    37207 Colorado Avenue
    Avon, Ohio 44011
    (216) 934-1397 (216) 934-1386 FAX
    www.msbcd.com

The first CD, PC Electronics Plus has about 15 different programs for making
    schematics, part layout, and PCB
making. The second CD, PC Electronics Plus Volume 2 has about 6 more programs.
I have tried some of the programs
on each of the CD's and they range from good to excellent for the purpose they
are intended for, I need to spend a
little more time looking at these 2 CD's to provide more information about them.
I would check out their web site
and see what they have and go from there to see if any of the programs they have
    actually do what you want.

    Have Fun !!

You have stated that you want some sort of breadboard tool, but I think
that the freeware pcb design tool at http://www.expresspcb.com/ might
be of help, it has a good library of chips, easy to use and free.....I use
it alot for moving things around and planning layouts.

    hope that helps

Will a standard PCB layout program work for you? There are several free
and low cost programs out there: EasyTrax (DOS) ( <www.protel.com> ),
    Cadint (WIN - free up to 250 pins) ( <www.cadint.com > ), Eagle (WIN - free
    up to 2" x 3.2") ( <www.cadsoft.de> )

Cadint is a great program - a bit of a learning curve but extremely powerful.

I also saw a vero-board layout package called Stripboard Magic - the
company appears to have vanished but a copy of the install disk is posted
    at <http://www.qsl.net/m0bsz/Files/StripboardMagic%202.zip>

I do not know the legal status of that download - use it at your own risk.

This board rules. You always get so much help no matter how lame you sound
when asking the question. ABOUT THE BREADBOARDING ISSUE THOUGH: I found a
free program called Circad. Look it up on google. It is nice. It has a
decent library of chips and you can add to it if you have the output table
for the chip and it is not too much to do.

I am sorry I sound lame to you. In my 8+ years on this board nobody
accused me of that before. But there is a first time for everything.

Circad (and Express PCB and others) is a PCB CAD, not Breadboard
    CAD.There is a difference.
Take a look at Winbreadboard at Yoeric and you will see that
difference. Unfortunately WBB does not have a library of "generic"
ICs (like DIP 8 pin, DIP 16 pin, etc.)like PCB CADs like Express do.
Otherwise it would be an ideal package.

I hope this does not sound too lame to you?

    Alex.

These might not quite fit the requirements, but might bear checking on:

Genesis BS1 Simulator - http://www.safecheck.net (click on new products,
    etc.)

    VirtualBreadBoard - http://www.virtualbreadboard.com/

    "Virtual Vulcan" Logic Simulator -

You might have missed my post of a couple of days ago - I provided the
download link for a copy of Stripboard Magic 2. This is a program which is
designed to help you lay out your circuit on vero-board. The relevant part

    Thanks Dwaine,

No, I did not miss it - I am still playing with it.

    Thanks a lot,
