What an off beat question! How does one select a cellular carrier to
get the best rate plan. There must be at least 20 different carriers
for cellular phone service. Sorry for the off beat question, but
traffic is low and I thought best to talk about something.

thanks for your response and yes I did a google search and no I did not
RTFM :-))))

    Beware of the traps:

Free long distance from your *local* calling area.

Free long distance to other plan subscribers.

Evening times that start at 8 or 9 PM and go to 5 or 6 am.

Read the fine print. If they talk fast on the ads, chances are there is a
    trick to it.

I've only been with Voicestream (don't go there!) and Verizon. I use
my cell for all long distance because it's free. I like the signal coverage
from Verizon (I live in the Seattle area where we have PLENTY of
obstructions), but I don't have one of the nation-wide plans. However, I
use it from within my home area 99% of the time. The service is good, but
they're customer service occasionally leaves something to be desired. Just
the same, I'd recommend them but only if you get a plan from one of they're
stores. The we-carry-everything stores don't genenrally offer verizon's
best rates, nor do the online shops like Point.com.
