compiler for any platform

I talked to Gabe at parallax and was told that they were working on a
compiler or something like it to port the Basic stamp IDE to the
various platforms such as Palm, Windows CE and would be out in about
2-3 weeks. I am excited because it would cut the cost of a dedicated
full size PC or Laptop and make data aquisition easier in the field.
Schools could afford more Parallax equipment because they would not
have to purchase full size PCs or Laptops. I would like some
reactions to this news.
Thank You,

find out if a compiler for the Palm OS was available. Thanks for the info
and I'll be watching to see what happens.

the $130 serial cable I bought for my Pocket PC. It is
infinitely easier to bring a handheld into a client
manufacturer's clean room than a laptop. For primary
development, however, I want my keyboard; and I
seriously doubt that this would be the key deciding
factor as to whether a school gets handhelds or
laptops/desktops. Like the rest of use, full-time
students are probably best with both at the moment.
