Hi

Does anyone have a link, or a source for information on Industrial
automation protocols? What I am looking at researching is protocols
by allen bradley (Data highway), Modicon (Modbus), Mitsu. etc, and
the ability of the BS to speak to these devices using their native
protocols.

Any help would be appreciated.

Good lucK !! I would like to know how to interface the stamp to read
the diagnostic codes on my car's computer. Problem is -- is that it's a
secret. I can't get anyone to talk about it. This industrial protocols
can most like be identified, but what they do inside the respective
processor 'allen bradley (Data highway), Modicon (Modbus), Mitsu. etc'
    may be hard to find.

    regards,

    Leroy

Industrial automation protocols would be much more open then those
for vehicle computers. Why? Becuase they want their system to be
easily interfaced with other systems, which opens up the market for
them. As an example, I have the protocol description for Modbus
    ASCII protocol. I know if I send a 01030000ED command at 9600Baud,
7e1 to a properly configured controller I will get the status of a
certain bit. (don't have the manual in front of me so this is just a
    fictional command)

This is the only one I have the protocol for, that is why I asked.

Hopefully someone can help. If not, we have a protocol analyzer at
the shop, and I can figure it out this way. This will take more
    time, but can be done.
