Trouble with connection a basic stamp to pc

Hi,
i want to connect a basic stamp II with my pc. I use
basic stamp 1.3 editor. The debug test work properly,
but when i download the program thi message appare:
"Hardware connection failure! Check Serial
cable and power supply."
I check the power supply and it's good, and also the
serial cable. The serial connection of my pc work
properly (i connect with a modem for a test)
does someone have the same problem ?
does someone have idea of how to fix ?

Hi Riccardo Fanetti,

Are you using an experimenter board or a home brew pc board on your project?
Is it an experimenter board made for the Basic Stamp or one of the many after
market boards available?
If it is a home brew pc board or after market board are pins 6 and 7 connected
together on the connector?
Note, some after market boards do not connect pins 6 and 7 together.

Do you have a DB25 to 9 pin adapater? These will often mess things up.
Dale mentioned after market boards. All of ours have the correct
connections, but I can't speak for any others.
