RS232 programming of the Basic Stamp 2SX?

Can someone please tell me how to program the Basic Stamp 2SX using a
9-pin d-type connector?
I'm using the Parallax INEX-1000 board with a Basic Stamp II
installed in the socket. When I swap the Basic Stamp II with a Basic
Stamp 2SX and try to program it using the BASIC Stamp Editor I get
the error: "Basic Stamp II detected but not responding on COM 1!
Check power supply.".
There must be something I'm missing because the pinouts of the BS-2
and the BS-2SX are the same, and the INEX-1000 board is supposed to
allow the programming of the BS-2SX in the same socket.
Thanks.

When you are in the editor, click on Edit/Preferences and make sure the
Editor Operation has the SX checked.

the program to run on a BS-2 and the Basic Stamp editor was set for
that. Simply changing the configuration for a BS-2SX wasn't enough. I
had to start a new file and cut/paste the program into that new file,
then run it while configured for the BS-2SX.
Lesson learned.
Thanks.
