Need to talk to someone who has implemented phone interface

Hi,
I asked the newsgroup about this a few weeks ago, and got some
good pointers. I was looking for a phone line interface. I was
pointed to some sites, found a couple of interfaces and have
ATTEMPTED to implement one, but I just CAN'T get it to work (see
attached GIF of circuit). I am using a capacitor, zener pair,
resister network to feed a 2N27 opto-isolator. It isn't working
for me and I would like to know if anyone has an interface that
works. I need to detect RING so that I can switch the phone line
via a Stamp/Relay combo.
Any help???
TIA,
Larry Woods

Your gif file must be uploaded to the groups section of yahoo. But from
your description I would suspect your opto couplers are giving you the
problem. If you will send me the gif file, I will look into the matter
further..

I would be interested in finding more about the circuit. I am
presently working on a home automation project remotely controlled
through the phone line and any information would be helpful. You can
email me at vmansueto@h....
Thanks,
Vince

I'm working on a CID project, which basically needs to
detect thr RING that you also need to detect. I'm
detecting that ring with the CID chip. It has a pin
which is driven LOW when a RING is deteted. The chip
costs $CAD 3.00, and it requires a small amount of
external circuitry. I think it is the easiest way of
detecting your ring while actually classifing it as a
valid ring.
you can get the chip from Holtek, www.holtek.com. The
chip is part# HT9032C. The C version is 8 DIP but they
also have a D version which is 4 DIP.
cheers
