DS1307 Problem

I have a problem with the DS1307, I built the PCB for
the DS1307 with the PIC-N-LCD for LCD control so with
this card I have control of the LCD and the Real TIME
CLOCK. I get FF:FF:FF for time,, maybe is
interference or something wrong. I cut the tracks
that join the +5v from the circuit of the DS1307 and
the PIC-N-LCD and the DS1307 works perfect,, when I
use the same power supply I get wrong values or
garbage.... of someone know how to fix this,, I will
appreciate so much

Regards,
Alejadnro Vazquez

    Hi Alejadnro,

Are you using the battery backup function of the DS1307? I've found
that if you don't need the battery backup, the VBatt pin must be
grounded for it to work properly. I've been in the same boat as you:
seeing FF:FF:FF flash on the screen! Try grounding the pin and see if
    it works.

    Good luck,
    --Jeff

Add a RTC, up to 256k EEPROM and an I2C buss to your BS2

Hello,, I have a problem sharing the power supply
between a DS1307 with other circuit (shift register).
When I only use the power supply for the DS1307 i get
a perfect reading but when I share the power supply I
get a reading like this: FF:01:00 that increments 3 by
3 (very strange). I already try to use separte 7805
for each circuit but I get the same problem. If
someone knows how to fix it please let me know.

    Thanks
    Alex
