dc drive motor question

I realize the off-topic nature of this submission, but I need to find some
high-torque, DC-gearmotors to be controlled by my stamp. The DC motor can
range from 6-24 Volts. Does anyone know where I can find these relatively
cheaply? Thank you.

    Hello Sean K;

    If $15.00 to $25.00 for each motor is cheap enough then try this site;

    http://www.jameco.com/

They have several at different RPM outputs in the voltage range you are looking
for, take a look and see if these
will do what you want to do. They can be found in the components area on the
    left side bar.

    Have Fun !!

    Hi Sean -

There are probably hundreds of places that offer surplus DC gearmotors,
can you be a bit more specific about your requirements ? Such things as the
following will help to pare down the list:

Maximum torque required, Physical size, Shaft configuration,
Preferred mounting, Maximum Current Permissible, Reversability,

That will give us a better start at assisting you.

    Regards,

    Bruce Bates

How about window lift or windshield wiper motors at your local junk yard

I just purchased a couple of gear motors for a project of my own. They are wheel
chair motors rated @ 24VDC, 110RPM no load, 3.6A no load. I don't know what
"relatively cheaply" means to you, I thought they were reasonably at $300 a
pair. I bought them from C and H sales, they are brand new, one left and one
    right side.

Here is a link to inspect. This company has a variety of motors, often including
gearheads. The stock changes, you might want to inquire by email to see what he
    has at the moment.

    Sean-

a very long time ago I built a project from some motors harvested from
an automobile power window system. They had gearheads attached, and
were very torquey- tough little bastards. They were free, as I got
them from a friend's wrecked car. A visit to the local auto junkyard
might be just the ticket. Otherwise a trip to NAPA, or a dealership to
score some new ones would be an option. I have no idea what they cost
    new.

    Good luck-

    peter

Check eBay for wheelchairs -- I snagged one complete for $255 that has the
    motors, wheels, controller, etc...
