question about ground on Stamp

Hey guys,
One more question: I am using a Ming Transmitter and Receiver. My
Stamp is powering the transmitter. The Stamp is powered by the AC
adapter. I'm running two wires (+,-) from the Stamp to the
transmitter circuit. My receiver is plugged into a power supply.
They are about 20 ft apart.
Here's my problem: I receive info at the receiver when the Stamp
is plugged into the serial cable. However, when I unplug the cable,
the receiver is real flaky and doesn't receive too good. I'm sure it
has to do with the grounding. Should I use a cap with the
grounding? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.
