I'm looking to purchase a photo diode that can be used in the Earh
Measurement Experiment #4 page 76. The Parallax web site has the
following:
350-00012 Blue enhanced photodiode - $6.60
$6 seems kind-of expensive for a photodiode. Are there alternatives that
anyone can suggest?
Regards,
Chris

You can use either the PVB-V113 ($1.65) or the PVB-C113 ($1.45) from
Digikey. They are identical for the purpose of using RCtime on the
Stamp.
If you find a photodiode locally or surplus, go ahead and try it,
although you may have to make some adjustments in the component
values.

The photo diode that they are using in the experiment is larger then most
and is blue enhanced. I purchased
the kit for the Earth Measurement book it is approximately four time bigger then
most photo diodes.
Thank You !!
