HELP!

I have had no luck finding the info I need.

I need to convert audio output from my sound source to control a servo.

In other words....

The louder the sound the longer the servo movement.

any suggestions...

please remember I am not an EE.

Thanks.

Rus

Actually, I've done something similar before in my first project ever
with micros. It involved a 'robot' head on a motor gearing which
turned in the direction of the loudest noise. I used a PIC, and even
had it connected to a PC for programming in routines through a VB
interface (it did more than just turn).

But to capture and hold the short noise, I used an op-amp in a sample
and hold configuration. The 'mic' charges up a cap, and the op-amp
slowly bleeds it off. The difference in level between the left-ear
and right-ear would be cause it to turn in one direction or the other.

I believe there is a sample and hold circuit in the Stamp manual (old
one) for PWM output that may be modified. Also, we discuss sample
and hold in the Industrial Text.
