My issue arrived a couple of weeks ago--maybe yours has gone
walkabout.
Jon's article describes a commercial off-the-shelf, 1-Wire weather
station (temperature, wind speed, wind direction, see
www.aag.com.mx) and how to use a BS2p with the device.

Steve

the same approach to drive a 4x4 keypad.
Now you have two major building blocks for a large system that only used
2 io line total (3 if you use the interrupt to signal a key press in a
state machine).

Thanks for your help.

A couple of months ago you used SPI to drive an LCD. How about using
the same approach to drive a 4x4 keypad. Now you have two major building
blocks for a large system that only used 2 io line total (3 if you use
the interrupt to signal a key press in a state machine).

Hey, gang, I've been swamped with work the last few weeks and haven't
even begun to think about my September column. Since I write that for
BASIC Stamp users, I'd love to here what you'd like to see. I can't
promise that I can deal with all of your ideas, but I will do my best to
handle what I can -- and make it interesting.
Thanks for your help.

tokens/data from a serial EEPROM) there is a limit to real-time
resolution. I built an alarm project for my former employer that could
monitor and time four separate inputs with 100 ms resolution, then send
an alarm code to a pager.
To be candid, though, some of this is "black art" and I don't think I
could squeeze it into a 2000-word article. Hell, I can't get users to
format their programs neatly ... how am I going to teach users to
analyze and pad every path through their program so that each path has
the same execution time.
Thanks for the ideas, though, and please keep them coming.

How about writing a column about real-time execution speed and tricks
to measure which code sequence executes faster and occupies the
least/most EEPROM? I've not read every N&V PDF yet (almost) but I've
only seen broad references to this topic. (I know another writer has
made references as well but didn't go into much detail.)
