Digital audio record and playback.

Hi,

Can anyone direct me to any documentation that tells you how to record and
playback digital audio. I know they sell sound modules, but I want to be
able to do it on my own with a stamp. I want to take input from a mic, save
it as digital data and store it in a place with lots of ram, maybe with
128k, then grab it from ram and play it back out the speaker.

Its so hard to find docs for direct use of the microphone and large sized
(64k-128k) memory chips. For this experiment I imagine that I need, an 8ohm
speaker, microphone, 2 A/D chips, some large ram chip, 2 buttons, and a bs2
stamp. Is it even possible to do this, or is the stamp to slow to get a
8000hz sound sample?

Radioshack sells a $9 small record/playback module, and I want to duplicate
its functionality with a stamp. If a $9 module can do it, a $50 stamp has
gotta be able to do it too.

Thanks for any info,
Tony

Why not try an ISD2560, it is simple to interface and does a good job.
