radiation sensor

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap sensor that can detect
radiation such as a geiger counter that can be hooked up to the basic
stamp. It would be nice to have the sensor be able to give the value
of the radionation also.
Thanks in advance,
Travis

If you're just wanting to play around with "some" sort of detector
then you could rip a smoke detector apart. They have a small piece of
Americium (sp?) and a circuit that detects it. Too much smoke shields
the radioactive source and the alarm goes off.
If you want to detect and measure something for real you need to
decide what type of radiaton (alpha, beta, gamma, levels, energy, etc.
Things get more involved and detectors can get pricey if you go there.
Tim
a 5 volt pulse with each alpha, beta, and gamma detected. They
cost $150.
How about using a semiconductor that's effected by radiation
strikes?
